At Mine Healthcare Services (MHS), we believe recovery is strengthened when individuals have access not only to professional behavioral health services, but also to meaningful connection, encouragement, practical support, and hope. Our Peer Recovery Support Services provide compassionate, non-clinical support to individuals navigating mental health, substance use, and recovery-related challenges.
Peer Recovery Specialists use their training and lived recovery experience to connect with individuals in a uniquely authentic way—helping them recognize their strengths, build confidence, access resources, and move toward meaningful, self-directed lives. Peer support is built on a simple but powerful principle: people who have walked through recovery can offer a unique level of understanding, encouragement, and hope to others on that journey. At MHS, our Peer Recovery Support Services complement our clinical and behavioral health programs by helping individuals remain connected, supported, informed, and actively engaged in their recovery.
Peer Recovery Support is a person-centered, recovery-oriented, non-clinical service delivered by trained individuals who bring personal lived experience with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, recovery, or related behavioral health experiences. Rather than approaching the individual through a traditional expert-patient relationship, peer support is grounded in shared understanding, mutual respect, trust, empowerment, and hope.
Peer Recovery Specialists walk alongside individuals as supportive partners. They listen without judgment, share appropriate aspects of their own recovery experience, help individuals identify personal goals, encourage healthy decision-making, and connect people with services and resources that may strengthen their recovery. Every recovery journey is different. Our role is not to define recovery for the individual, but to help each person identify and pursue the recovery path that is meaningful to them.
MHS Peer Recovery Specialists may provide support in areas such as:
01
Providing a safe, respectful environment where individuals can discuss challenges, progress, goals, setbacks, and opportunities with someone who understands recovery from lived experience.
02
Helping individuals identify realistic personal recovery and wellness goals and develop practical steps toward achieving them.
03
Offering compassionate listening, motivation, reassurance, and encouragement during the different stages of recovery.
04
Sharing appropriate lived experience, practical insight, coping strategies, and lessons learned to help individuals build confidence and recognize that sustained recovery is possible.

Helping individuals better understand and navigate behavioral health, healthcare, social service, and community support systems.

Encouraging individuals to understand their choices, communicate their needs, participate actively in decisions affecting their recovery, and become stronger advocates for themselves.
08
Supporting the development of skills that promote greater independence, stability, wellness, healthy relationships, and successful participation in the community.
09
Supporting opportunities for individuals to build positive relationships, reduce isolation, strengthen recovery networks, and connect with others who understand the recovery experience.
Our Outpatient Mental Health Center (OMHC) is a full-service clinic dedicated to providing comprehensive mental health care for youth ages 5–17 and adults ages 18–55. We offer home-based, school-based, and onsite therapy services, including individual, family, and group counseling.
At Mine Healthcare Services, we deliver high-quality, innovative mental health care designed to address a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and psychological challenges while supporting long-term well-being.
Peer Recovery Support Services can be especially valuable when coordinated with other behavioral health services. At MHS, peer support can complement our broader continuum of behavioral health and recovery services by helping individuals remain engaged, navigate barriers, strengthen motivation, connect with resources, and continue working toward their personal recovery goals.
Peer Recovery Specialists do not replace therapists, counselors, physicians, or other licensed healthcare professionals. Instead, they provide a distinct and valuable form of non-clinical recovery support based on lived experience, connection, mentorship, and mutual understanding. This collaborative approach allows MHS to address recovery from multiple perspectives while keeping the individual at the center of the process.
