At Mine Healthcare Services (MHS), we believe recovery is strengthened when individuals have access not only to professional behavioral health services, but also to meaningful connection, encouragement, practical support, and hope. Our Peer Recovery Support Services provide compassionate, non-clinical support to individuals navigating mental health, substance use, and recovery-related challenges.
Peer Recovery Specialists use their training and lived recovery experience to connect with individuals in a uniquely authentic way—helping them recognize their strengths, build confidence, access resources, and move toward meaningful, self-directed lives. Peer support is built on a simple but powerful principle: people who have walked through recovery can offer a unique level of understanding, encouragement, and hope to others on that journey. At MHS, our Peer Recovery Support Services complement our clinical and behavioral health programs by helping individuals remain connected, supported, informed, and actively engaged in their recovery.
Peer Recovery Support is a person-centered, recovery-oriented, non-clinical service delivered by trained individuals who bring personal lived experience with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, recovery, or related behavioral health experiences. Rather than approaching the individual through a traditional expert-patient relationship, peer support is grounded in shared understanding, mutual respect, trust, empowerment, and hope.
Peer Recovery Specialists walk alongside individuals as supportive partners. They listen without judgment, share appropriate aspects of their own recovery experience, help individuals identify personal goals, encourage healthy decision-making, and connect people with services and resources that may strengthen their recovery. Every recovery journey is different. Our role is not to define recovery for the individual, but to help each person identify and pursue the recovery path that is meaningful to them.
MHS Peer Recovery Specialists may provide support in areas such as:
01
Providing a safe, respectful environment where individuals can discuss challenges, progress, goals, setbacks, and opportunities with someone who understands recovery from lived experience.
02
Helping individuals identify realistic personal recovery and wellness goals and develop practical steps toward achieving them.
03
Offering compassionate listening, motivation, reassurance, and encouragement during the different stages of recovery.

08
Supporting the development of skills that promote greater independence, stability, wellness, healthy relationships, and successful participation in the community.
09
Supporting opportunities for individuals to build positive relationships, reduce isolation, strengthen recovery networks, and connect with others who understand the recovery experience.
Your recovery. Your goals. Your choices. Peer support begins with the goals, priorities, strengths, values, and preferences of the individual receiving services.
We focus not simply on problems or diagnoses, but on the individual's strengths, abilities, resilience, resources, and potential.
We believe recovery is possible and that individuals can build meaningful, productive, and fulfilling lives.
Trust, empathy, respect, authenticity, and human connection are central to effective peer support.
Peer support is collaborative. We encourage and empower individuals to make informed choices about their recovery and the support they receive.
Our approach recognizes the importance of emotional and physical safety, dignity, choice, collaboration, empowerment, and respect for each person's individual experiences.
Lived experience can provide powerful evidence that change is possible. Peer Recovery Specialists help individuals see possibilities beyond their current circumstances and continue moving forward.

Peer Recovery Support Services can be especially valuable when coordinated with other behavioral health services. At MHS, peer support can complement our broader continuum of behavioral health and recovery services by helping individuals remain engaged, navigate barriers, strengthen motivation, connect with resources, and continue working toward their personal recovery goals.
Peer Recovery Specialists do not replace therapists, counselors, physicians, or other licensed healthcare professionals. Instead, they provide a distinct and valuable form of non-clinical recovery support based on lived experience, connection, mentorship, and mutual understanding. This collaborative approach allows MHS to address recovery from multiple perspectives while keeping the individual at the center of the process.
At Mine Healthcare Services, we understand that recovery looks different for everyone. Each person’s experience, strengths, needs, goals, and pathway are unique. Our Peer Recovery Support Services are designed to meet individuals where they are, walk alongside them without judgment, and help them move toward where they want to be. Through lived experience, meaningful connection, practical support, empowerment, and hope, our Peer Recovery Specialists help individuals recognize an essential truth:
RECOVERY IS POSSIBLE – You do not have to walk the journey alone. Connect with MHS today to learn more about Peer Recovery Support Services and how we can support you or someone you care about.
